3 Digital Start-Ups to Watch In 🇪🇸 🇫🇷 🇮🇹

This summer, I have been travelling and working remotely in Europe, focusing on observing and studying the latest digital innovations and start-ups in Spain, France, and Italy.
Europe is home to some of the best countries in the world for startups. The European startup ecosystem has proliferated over the past decade, becoming a hub for innovation, technology, and entrepreneurship. With its diverse cultures, robust economies, and supportive governmental policies, Europe offers numerous opportunities for budding entrepreneurs to establish and grow their businesses.
From my visits to three countries, here are some intriguing statistics that I’ve learned about the startup ecosystems in these markets:
- In Spain 🇪🇸, there were approximately 22,771 active startups in 2021, which collectively raised €4 billion in venture capital investment in 2012, marking it as the second most successful year on record.
- France 🇫🇷 established 1,071,900 new businesses in 2022, with factors such as access to capital, a pool of highly skilled human resources, and a robust legal framework contributing significantly to this trajectory.
- Italy 🇮🇹 is growing rapidly in the ecosystem with 14,708 startups. In 2022, the market attracted a total of €1.54 billion through 285 deals, with two Milan-based start-ups, Satispay and Scalapay, achieving unicorn status in the same year.
In this article, I highlight three digital start-ups from these countries that are at the forefront of delivering innovative solutions in the fields of Cyber Security, AI and e-commerce.
