How Technology is Changing the Sports Industry
As I enjoyed the fresh sea air and quaint town life of the beautiful county of Cornwall, I met Jay. With nerves of steel and unparalleled agility, Jay’s talent for jumping off of walls, staircases and even roofs fascinated me. He told me that life as a freerunning athlete pushes every part of his body to the limit and allows him to creatively interact with physical obstacles in the street without limiting his movement.
Musing on life and the ways of the world, he let me in on his unique freerunning athlete’s perspective. He pointed out that in London and other major cities, the streets are full of people walking with their eyes and ears glued to their mobile phones while the wonders of the world go completely unnoticed around them. However, freerunning means that he has to pay attention to every single detail of what’s going on around him.
Freerunning doesn’t leave Jay much time for things like technology or digital media. However, he is fully aware of the power of social media and the doors that it could open for someone with a skill like his.
