Why are Mainstream Businesses High on the Cannabis Industry?

For better or worse, I didn’t get high at my CBD yoga class.

While I was co-living in Selina Manuel Antonio, I joined a CBD Yoga class in the middle of the Costa Rican jungle. As I practiced the poses, I couldn’t help but wonder: why are mainstream businesses high on the cannabis industry?

Over the last couple of years, cannabis has undergone a massive rebrand. It has scrapped its stoner image and become a key part of a lifestyle centered on wellness. From providing relief for anxiety and depression to promoting better sleep, cannabis has gained mainstream recognition and the Covid-19 pandemic has, if anything, enhanced its new image.

Cannabis was one of the fastest-growing industries in the US in 2021. According to industry research, legal sales reached around $17.5 billion and accounted for 321,000 full-time jobs across the 37 states with legal medical or adult-use markets.
